erstmalig im vinyl-format erhältlich, bietet der nun vorliegende, exzellente konzertmitschnitt „le freak live“ ausgewählte highlights von ihrem letzten (reunion-) gig (tokyo / budokan 1996), bei dem sie zudem von ex-guns n’ roses gitarrist slash, der vocalgruppe sister sledge sowie stevie winwood (auf der hendrix-coverversion „stone free“) unterstützt wurden. zugleich dokumentiert diese veröffentlichung tragischerweise den letzten auftritt von bernard edwards, der nur kurz danach in tokyo verstarb.

helsinki’s we jazz records launches a new series of live recordings, the -we jazz live plates-, offering a closer look into the label’s live activities. the first installment of the series is a recording from berlin captured in october 2017. the six-tracker features black motor, bowman trio and jaska lukkarinen trio offering two potent slices of raw live jazz each. all of the compositions herein are previously unreleased or new arrangements.
the album -berlin 27.10.17- was recorded at club monarch located in berlin’s kottbusser tor during the second annual scope festival (a collaborative effort of berlin’s xjazz and we jazz). the dense atmosphere of the packed club is present in the recordings which showcase three major acts from the vibrant finnish scene. musically, the album ranges from the undeniable swing of jaska lukkarinen trio’s -roger- and bowman trio’s -the hillary step- to the scorching updated version of black motor’s -branches-, subtitled here as -berliner musik-.

07042016 (live at st.paul s anglican church, athens) is the debut album of modal analysis, brought by the greek experimental band of mmmd (also known as mohammad). nikos veliotis and ilios are currently performing as the mmmd duo, with further focus on deep monolithic sounds, low frequencies, inter-modulations, dark textures, and distant folk nuances through custom made instruments (cello & electronic bass) and software. the release carries parts of the mmmd live performance at st.pauls anglican church in athens, recorded on the 7th of april 2016. the concert was hosted by fasma festival, on the opening day of its 2016 edition.

to replace the original arrangements with strings was originally planned as a one-off event: when preparing a pascal pinon performance in portugal, jófríður asked nyc-based composer ian davis to help her re-arrange four tracks. after the show jófríður realized that the material deserved to be captured.

nice price deal !!! this is the first remix that todd rundgren has ever done for another artist. this is at least what rundgren nerds/experts have told us. anyway, we are of course extremely proud to put this wonderful music on wax. todd rungren has been a big inspiration for lindstrom, so this is a dream come through. also lindstrom has made an extended disco version of quiet place to live exclusive for this 12 inch.
